Search Hartford Correctional Center Inmates

Hartford Correctional Center is the main Connecticut DOC facility for many West Hartford County inmate lookup needs. It is a state-operated pretrial correctional center, not a county sheriff jail. To look up inmates at Hartford Correctional Center, use the Connecticut DOC inmate information system first, then contact the facility, West Hartford Police Records, or the court when a recent arrest, bond question, or charge record is not yet reflected in custody search.

Hartford Correctional Center Overview

Hartford Correctional Center is a Connecticut Department of Correction facility at 177 Weston Street in Hartford. DOC lists it as a Level 4 high-security urban jail that primarily holds pretrial offenders and serves superior courts in Bristol, Enfield, Hartford, Manchester, Middletown, New Britain, Rockville, and West Hartford. That official West Hartford court-service listing makes Hartford CC the primary facility page for this local inmate population project.

The facility opened in 1977 as a Level 4 pretrial facility for adult males on 10 acres. Dormitories 1 and 2 opened in 1990, followed by Dormitories 3 and 4 in 1991. DOC lists staffing at 337 and identifies Warden Devonia Long, with Deputy Wardens William Foote and Eric McKenzie on the facility page inspected during research. Hartford CC also oversees the DOC Medical-Surgical Ward at UConn Health.

This facility page should be read as a DOC custody page. It is not a Hartford County sheriff jail and it is not operated by the Town of West Hartford. That difference changes the lookup path, visiting rules, account rules, and public-record fallback. West Hartford Police can help with local reports, but DOC controls custody information once a person enters Hartford CC.

Hartford Correctional Center Inmate Lookup

Use the Connecticut DOC inmate search for current Hartford Correctional Center custody. CT.gov says current inmates can be searched by CT DOC number, name, and date of birth. DOC inmate information updates daily and excludes youthful offender records and persons held on behalf of ICE.

  1. Open the official CT.gov inmate search service page.
  2. Search by DOC number when known, or use full name and date of birth.
  3. Check the facility/location field for Hartford Correctional Center or another DOC facility.
  4. If the person was just arrested in West Hartford and is not listed, contact WHPD Records or the facility.
  5. Use court lookup for formal charges and case dates after the arrest.

The DOC inmate search page is the official custody source for Hartford Correctional Center.

That state locator is more reliable than looking for a nonexistent West Hartford sheriff roster.

If a DOC search returns no result, timing may be the reason. A person arrested in West Hartford may still be in police processing, may have been released before DOC intake, or may not yet appear in the daily DOC update. The court docket can still appear later if charges are filed, so custody search and court search should be checked separately.

Hartford Correctional Center Contact

Hartford CC is the facility to call after DOC custody is confirmed or when a West Hartford arrestee may have moved from local police processing to state custody. For local police reports, WHPD Records remains the better starting point. For statewide DOC policy or public information, use DOC central office.

Hartford CC Booking and Intake

A West Hartford arrest begins with West Hartford Police. The person may be released by police, held for court, or moved into DOC custody based on the offense, warrant, bail, and court timing. If the person is not released, Hartford CC is the practical pretrial facility because DOC says it serves West Hartford courts.

Public sources did not provide a Hartford CC intake checklist. Ordinary DOC intake may include identification, classification, medical and mental-health screening, property handling, housing assignment, and visitor-list status. Hartford CC's connection to the UConn Health Medical-Surgical Ward is important because medical needs may move a person to secure hospital care while DOC custody remains active.

Accused status
A DOC term for a person held before conviction or final adjudication.
Sentenced status
A person serving a sentence in DOC custody.
Detainer
A custody hold or notice from another agency or jurisdiction.
